UI/UX DESIGN PROCESS

I practice a simple, iterative process for building the right product.

01 / 04

Discover

I start with understanding your business and product goals. I explore by collecting relevant information from accounts. demos and customer research stats to craft an intuitive solution meeting with your needs.

  • What is the company’s background and vision?
  • What are the client’s requirements?
  • What are the goals of the project?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • What problems they are facing & why?
  • Why does the problem exist?
  • What do the users need?
  • Who are the competitors?
  • What is the product’s feasibility along with competitors?

02 / 04

Define

Drawing on what I have learned during the discovery phase, I craft a roadmap addressing all your pain points and end goals.

  • What are the major pain points?
  • What are user expectations?
  • What are the KPIs of the project?
  • What are the existing methods and tools?
  • What are the benefits and drawbacks?
  • How we can come up with a better solution?

After all the brainstorming sessions I will short list the ideas find a dominant one and start creating user journey for each interaction.

03 / 04

Design

This is where I bring ideas to reality. By mapping empathy and cognitive science, I drive a solution which is intuitive and visually appealing for the user.

While creating user journey I start off with paper wireframes. Then shifting to tool to create low fidelity wireframes covering all major use cases.

Considering UX design best practices and industry standards I complete user journey in visual designs following brand guidelines.

I take your valuable feedback to complete the design meeting your user needs.

04 / 04

Deliver

This is the most important stage for collaboration with your development team. I will  help translating beautiful looking designs into useful products

I build interactive prototypes to understand actual user scenarios before going into the development phase.

I choose the right platform create a pixel perfect design ensure the end product looks great, loads fast, and works smoothly.

I test the product’s usability with heuristic evaluation involving your team and you. I can also involve your users to perform a usability testing.

    F.A.Q.

User experience (UX) design is an umbrella term representing the entire process of creating products and services that provide intuitive and delightful experience to their users.

People widely use terms like “UI/UX Design” or “Usability Design” to represent User Experience Design. However UI (User Interface) Design and Usability Design are subsets of UX Design.

Even though there is User Experience in everything that we use in our everyday lives (like a door, coffee mug or TV remote), off late the term UI/UX Design has been mainly associated with digital/technology products.

The objective of user experience designing is not just creating products that are usable but also engaging, efficient and fun to use.

For any business that delivers its service or product through an app or website, UI/UX design is as critical as sales, branding or marketing. Because good UI/UX design directly improves the bottom line.

Even if it is a bank with brick and mortar branches all across the country, their app would be the most important channel in which customers interact with the business, making UI/UX a critical factor influencing customer happiness and revenue.

It is found that “every dollar invested in UI/UX brings $100 in return”. This is an average figure, but it’s a ROI of an impressive 9,900%. This stunning return is due to increased conversion rate, increased customer retention, lower customer acquisition cost, lower support costs and improved trust and increased market share.

There are multiple factors influencing the cost of a UI/UX design project. The factors include scope and scale of the project, nature of the project (starting from scratch, revamping existing design), platforms (mobile, web, TV, kiosk), technology involved, and design services included (user research, interviews, testing) and delivery deadline to name a few.

It’s difficult to provide a number upfront without understanding the requirements and full scope of the project. I usually charge $50 to $100 per hour based on the complexity and size of the project. Typical UX projects range anywhere between $10,000 to $50,000 and could go above $100,000 depending on the scope.

All the factors influencing the cost (scope, complexity, platforms, budget, client feedback) will also affect the delivery timeline of a UI/UX design project. A typical UI/UX design project could go anywhere between 2-3 months to 6 months for a small-medium sized project. Bigger projects could take more than 6 months to 1 year depending on the scope and complexity.

The deliverables could change based on the requirement and nature of the project. Typically I deliver:

    • User-research report
    • UX audit report (if revamping an existing design)
    • Red route analysis
    • User persona
    • Customer journey maps
    • Sitemap
    • Wireframes
    • UI sketches
    • Interactive prototypes
    • Design systems

Usually I kick start every project with a detailed brainstorming session with all the stakeholders from the client side. These are the details/data I require before the start of every project.

    • Business/organizational goals
    • Target audience details
    • Product goals
    • Expected outcomes and KPIs of the project
    • Technical specifications
    • Market research data, if any
    • Previous user experience audit results if any
    • User analytics data, if any
    • Business reports

    Definitely I do develop websites.

I also work with a super-talented team of software engineers who are experienced in iOS and Android as their UI/UX partner.

However, I don’t offer software development as a standalone service.
